Cyalume Technologies is the world leader in chemiluminescent products, a technology invented by the company more than 45 years ago to meet a defence need. Since then, the group has been pursuing its R&D efforts to continuously improve the performance, quality and safety of its technology and to develop new products based on chemical lighting for both the military and security as well as medical market segments.
In December 2018, Cyalume was awarded the NATO contract once again after winning a call for tenders submitted to the NSPA (NATO Support and Procurement Agency). Cyalume is the first and only manufacturer to offer a full range of chemiluminescent products (light sticks, light patches, etc.):
- whose technical specifications meet (and even exceed) the specifications required by NATO,
- whose products have been tested and approved by NATO services.
Thus, Cyalume is the sole supplier of chemiluminescent products working under a NATO contract, for the United Nations, the US Department of Defense (US DoD), and many other Departments of Defense or Departments of Defense and Law Enforcement on an international level for the supply of chemiluminescent products.
Be careful, other manufacturers may claim to be in compliance with the specifications of an existing NSN or meet NATO specifications with their own NSN purchased from some European National Codification Offices, but in fact their products have never been tested against the specifications published by NATO!
